JC Raulston Arboretum: Raleigh NC: Caleb and Kelsey Learned Wedding

It isn't often I get to come along side other photographers and work together.  This past weekend was just that.  My first ever collaborative photography experience. I'm not sure if I'd sign up for more but it was joy to have a new experience.

An even greater joy was to be with Kelsey on her wedding day.  Her endless smiles and inviting laughter was wonderful to be around.  I'm ever glad to have been allowed to be a part of such a special day and I'm glad to be able to show you a bit of the magic that was Caleb and Kelsey's wedding!

There is not much missing in beauty at the JC Raulston Arboretum but you add some flowers and a Mermaid wedding dress... Can't go wrong!

Kelsey absolutely LOVED her flowers.  She was adorably smitten with the rose wedding bouquet

This group of ladies was so cute I couldn't help but smile!

I love how none of these ladies could stop smiling!

Metallic wedding shoes?  I think so after this pair!

I love when a bride places her bridesmaid's comfort so high!  Kelsey allowed each of her bridesmaids to pick out any dress they so desired just asking that it be in the family of color.  As a result not only did each of her girls get a dress fitting to them, it ended up with a beautiful look of cohesion but not canned!  I'm in love with it.

Kelsey you made a stunning bride and I'm ever glad to have been a part of your wedding day!

Vino Oasis: Stem NC: Megan and Ryan

One of the best parts of my job is being invited in on such a special day for wonderful couples.  Not just being honored with capturing their moments but also being included in the actual celebration with the couple.

When I was invited to photograph Ryan and Megan's reception I was honored but I did understand the full impact of the honor.  If you ever meet Ryan and Megan you'll see that any and all photos of them just in full out joy and laughter is how they live their life.  They are very sweet to others and each other.  Appreciative and just really sweet.

At the reception Ryan got up with Megan at his side and made his way through one of the most touching speeches I've ever had the privileged of hearing.  He spoke of he and his bride meeting at the classes he taught and how nervous he was to teach and that he selected the "girl in the pink shirt" like he was only teaching her to help him make his way through this challenge in his life.

He went on to speak clearly about how the people that were invited impacted one or both of them individually or as a couple.  That he was honored to have each in his life.  It was touching, heartfelt and just an amazing representation of how giving Ryan and Megan are in their life.

I'm deeply honored to be able to present to you some photos from their reception for you to enjoy.

Their reception was held at this gem in Stem NC: Vino Oasis

This family is just the cutest!

The beautiful interior of Vino Oasis was so nice and wonderfully open!

The full family got in on the fun!

Delcious and diverse choices in these wonderful cupcakes from Cupcake Bar in Durham

Everyone couldn't help but enjoy themselves. And who could they not with the delicious catering of SR Catering

World's most touching speech award goes to: Ryan and Megan!

Megan's laughter filled the air... such joy!

The built in bar is perfect and staffed wonderfully

Wonderful outdoor space at Vino Oasis was even put to good use on this rainy day!

As in true form: Megan and Ryan's dance was as cute as they are!

Who Shot John was great, lively and enjoyed by all!

Everyone got in on the fun and who could you help it with such great music!

It was a joy to watch as everyone celebrated on the dance floor to welcome this new family!

Megan and Ryan: Thank you again for the amazing honor of being there with you!!

Hope Valley Country Club: Durham NC: Neijia and Mike Wedding

It was a crisp cool March day when I made my way to the Hope Valley Country Club.  Over a year of anticipation on my end and oh so much more investment and excitement on the parts of these two families.

The stark white building against the blue sky, wind cutting through and a deep breath before I made my way into the building.  It didn't take long to find the bride just had to follow the sounds of laughter.

Family surrounding her as she got ready.  Each overjoyed for Neijia and Mike.  Each excited to play their part and make this an amazing day.

Neijia's attention to detail, whether the linked estetic of her shoes to jewery or the choice in the amazing staff at Hope Valley Country Club, was shown through the day.

The cream open backed and lace wedding gown from New York Bride of Raleigh was beautiful compliment to her soft and cascading hair as well as her flawless smile.

Making sure to fit the tradition Neijia made sure to have her something borrowed, blue, old and new.

Her choice for colors was a wonderful example of spring and complimented her bridesmaids!  And Fallon Flowers bouquets complimented perfectly.

There was so much joy an celebration for this amazing couple.  I was overjoyed to be a part of the day.

Nothing like grabbing a few moments with the groomsmen in their element and looking fine thanks to the help of VIP.

Flawless and radiant in their blue and aqua Alfred Angelo dresses.

The vaulted ceilings and hard wood floors were such a beautiful setting for such a special moment to start such an amazing new family.

Neijia's son was overwhelmed with joy for his mother.  The moment when he pulled her into a hug to celebrate with her took my breath away.  Such joy and willingness to embrace his mother with joy at his new family... it was an honor to be there for that moment.

Mike and Neijia: you two are adorable and I'm so glad that you allowed me to be with you on your wedding day.  Your joy shown brightly and I enjoyed feeling the glow of your happiness.

The chandeliers and candles everywhere allowed the glow of the room to give an air of romance.

Their choice of classic beauty was shown throughout their reception decor, including the beautiful choice of a long straight head-table

Alone in a crowd.  Their dance was for them and them alone.  Neijia sang softly to her love and they floated around just lost in their own moment.

There was no shortage of toasts and blessings on this new marriage.

Mike's dance with his mother was one of the sweetest moments.  They chose a faster song that was a song that had history for them both.  Their joy was intoxicating.  I couldn't help but want to sing and dance along with them as they took a moment to celebrate.

Sweet and quiet their mother son dance was sweet and tender, filled with smiles and embraces.

Suzie Q Cakes did a great job in both beauty and taste!

Everyone was ready to have fun and celebrate Mike and Neijia!

I am ever glad to have been there with you on your wedding day.  It is the best thing about my job.  Being able to stand by your side as you go through your day, taking those moments and allowing them to be held for you to recall for all the years to come!

Gibson House: Woodland CA: Brianna and Michael Wedding

Hearing the "story of us" from each couple is one of my favorite moments.  Hearing his side and hers.  It is nice to hear the banter of how they both see it.  With Michel and Brianna it was no different.  It was a joy to hear their story.  But even more so because as much as I am close with both of them I didn't get to hear the nitty gritty of their beginning until their wedding week!?!

Their love story begins in the hands of the amazing Sally; their mutual friend that invited them both to a dance party.   Only thing is she told Brianna about Michael but she didn't tell Michael about Brianna.  It is only fitting because Michael is as easy going as they come and Brianna is the most determined girl around.  Their contrast in personality compliments each other so perfectly it is like it was planned!

Their time at UC Davis together allowed their relationship to grow and become something to behold.  When Brianna finished up her degree and took off for her assignment with the Peace Corp to Liberia there was no question to Michael, he was standing with Brianna, and she him.

Their long distance relationship took it's full affect and allowed them to be challenged and grow in many ways that eventually brought them to their wedding day.

Brianna was only smiles on her wedding days.  Long nights and early mornings preparing for this day would take nothing away from it being the start of their marriage.

Her sunflower engagement ring was too perfect.  Both Michael and Brianna have a joy for unique and quirky and Brianna's love of all things agricultural it seemed only fitting to have a touch of it with her always.

Brianna's soft side swept braid with comb accent was such a great choice for her and her dress!

In true Michael fashion he couldn't just do any old groomsmen gift.  It would have to be unique, a reference and something only fitting to him.  So it was commissioned and so it was done!

Brianna has nothing if not a heart of gold!  She took the time to make a special gift and letter to give to Michael on the morning of their wedding.  It was filled with small gifts each with their special reason specific for Michael and a letter so sweet that he struggled so hard but ultimately failed in his effort to avoid tears.

Brianna's intentionality was wonderfully cohesive.  Small details to bring together a complete look.  Simple and perfect!

Gibson House was a beautiful venue and filled with fun history for the guests to enjoy!

The breeze pulled through the sunflowers and pushed around the wide porch on their wedding day.  It was sunny but not too hot... couldn't ask for much more!

The mermaid cut sleeveless lace dress she chose was all to perfect for her!

Her bouquet of sunflowers, corn flowers and wheat was perfect for her country background and rustic heart!

Brianna and Michael chose to do a first look and I was honored to be there to capture their joy in that private moment

Brianna wanted each of her bridesmaids to feel beautiful and decided the best way to do that is for each of them to simply pick their favorite blue dress.  The complimenting and variety of colors and styles made for a wonderful collection.  It was an artisan feel and one I hope to get to capture again!

It was only fitting that the grooms"men" would find the only bar on the estate to grab a few moments of chill before the ceremony started

As you will see a trend about Brianna: she took time to make each bridesmaid a personal gift.  A handmade, by Brianna, clutch bag, she individually picked out the material for each bridesmaid to fit their own personal taste, filled with the essentials: A shot to take the edge off, a bar of chocolate for something sweet and a thing of tissues for all the love of the day.

As with all things Brianna and Michael their love and acceptance of people was present in each detail down to their desire to have people sit anywhere they would like

To watch their joy on that day... was breathtaking.  I'm ever glad to have been able to be there with them!

Everyone at the wedding was there to celebrate with laughter and a little prance around the dance floor.

Fun and quirky: their guest book was a jenga set where all the guest got to write a little note to the newlyweds.  Well wishes, proverbs, inside jokes... any number of thing can be found and enjoyed each time they break out the game!

The sun set as they danced for the first time... and yes I'll say the cheesy line here that you all want me to say, and the beautiful thing is it actually is true: but it was no where near setting on their love for each other... *cue chorus of  "Awwwwwww"

I swear Brianna's cheeks must have hurt by the end of the night because that smile didn't disappear!

It was such a joy to see the two sides of the family come together to celebrate this amazing couple!

No one was left out of celebrating this amazing day!

I love how much sheer joy was had on this wedding day!

The toasts were sounded and heart strings pulled!

One amazing moment was the mother daughter dance!  To say it was memorable would be and understatement.  To say it was adorable would be only too fitting.

Brianna was joined by some of her very close Peace corp friends and thus began the Liberian dance time... So much joy and such fond memories relieved and captured.  Yes, I couldn't help myself but to snag a video or two of Brianna and her crew busting their moves!

Michael and Brianna:  Thank you so much for allowing me the honor of taking your photos.  It was amazing to be with you on your wedding and to be able to help you.  I will cherish that for always.  Here is to many more adventures and stories to tell!
